About Senior ConferenceThe Department of Social Sciences, on behalf of the Superintendent of the United States Military Academy, has convened Senior Conference every year since 1963, with the sole exception of 1969. The conference provides a forum for distinguished representatives – from government, academia, the think-tank community, the media, business, the joint military services, and the international community – to discuss topics of national security importance in a closed, "not for attribution" setting.
The Conference serves two primary purposes: (1) Facilitate a vigorous and candid exchange of ideas among policymakers and experts; and (2) Help the Academy accomplish its mission: to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country; to professional growth throughout a career as an officer in the United States Army; and to a lifetime of selfless service to the Nation. West Point provides the ideal and fitting setting - the oldest, continuously occupied military installation in the United States; a key strategic outpost throughout the American Revolution; and since 1802, the home of the Nation's premier leadership development institution.
